Wild Boar Facts | Croatia & Slovenia Wildlife Guide
Wild boars are omnivores that mainly eat plants, berries, fruits, roots and bulbs. They rank the second-most abundant ungulate in Europe, behind roe deer.
The Eurasian wild boar is the largest of all the wild pigs whose colors range from black to dirty brown. Wild boars communicate with growls and squeals, and typically thrive in any area with shelter, shrubs and access to water.
They are deft swimmers, fast runners and have historically been one of most hunted game animals dating back to before medieval times.
