Know Before You Go
Weather & Climate in the Himalayas
The Ladakh region is a high, cold desert perched in the rainshadow of the Himalaya Mountains. The area receives just over 4 inches of rain per year. During the winter in Ladakh, daytime temperatures may reach into the 30s and 40s, but nights can be much colder. By spring, days can get into the 50s and 60s. Even on chilly days, the sun can feel intense due to the high altitude (sunscreen is a must!).
Days in New Delhi are much warmer all year, with winter and spring daytime temperatures often above 70 degrees and nights ranging from the 40s in the winter to the 60s and even 70s in the spring.
